Thirst Day

On the Thirst Day holiday, which is celebrated annually on August 24, volunteers and activists hold various contests, sports events, during which participants give up water for a while. In connection with the Thirst Day, it is impossible not to recall the heroic feat of the Soviet soldiers defending the Brest fortress. Left without water, they fought off Nazi attacks for more than 10 days, defending their homeland. In order to perpetuate the courage and steadfastness of the soldiers who fought the invaders to the last, a memorial "Thirst" was erected on the territory of the citadel (on the left bank of the Mukhovets River).
